Carnelian-The unexpected fire of a sunset
Carnelian
Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Carnelian gets its name from the Latin Caro- meaning “flesh.” Its fiery orange hue and warm energy brings passion and strength to the forefront of healing, when used in crystal therapy.
Carnelian, in its beautiful shades of orange, stimulates the Sacral Chakra or Second Chakra- located below the naval, above the pubic bone, at the front of the pelvis. It controls the flow of energy and is the body’s center of gravity. Gut feelings, intuition, and other baser communications come from this Chakra.
Carnelian helps timid speakers become eloquent and bold. It lends the courage needed to help overcome difficulties and defend a cause. It promotes idealism, a sense of community, and pragmatism. Ancient Warriors wore Carnelian around their neck for courage and physical stamina. In present day, Carnelian is particularly helpful for athletes, military service personnel, and anyone embarking on strenuous endeavors.
Carnelian is a stone of motivation and endurance, leadership and courage. Historically it was used for structural protection and strength of architecture. In ancient Egypt Carnelian was worn by master architects to show their rank, and thought to protect and strengthen builders and craftsmen.

In its orange hues, Carnelian is identified with the receptive or passive feminine energies of the goddess Isis. Its red to brown hues are associated with the active male energies. Carnelian is used to enhance balance of the Yin and Yang energies and heighten passion, love, and desire.
When used to support business and craft needing technical ability, Carnelian reinforces architects, builders, and construction workers particularly well. It is also a talisman for success in any money-making venture. In the workplace, it is a stone of ambition, drive and determination.
